Probably the following situation has happened at least once - walk through the exit door and take one of the apples you plan to eat while driving to work. You've forgotten just one small thing: wash the apple!
There seems to be no cause for concern because the apple looks so clean and great, but this is far from the truth. Apples are found to contain bacteria and pesticides that can cause (serious) health problems.

Apples go a long way during which they can come in contact with various pathogens and potentially dangerous microorganisms. Among the most dangerous are E. coli, salmonella, listeria and norovirus, which can trigger various health problems from diarrhea to kidney failure and urinary tract infections. But pathogens are not the only problem - during the harvest, apples fall to the ground and can come into contact with animal feces. Also, do not think that organic apples are immune to these bacteria - because of their more rough surface, bacteria can even more easily get inside your apple.

The good news is that there are still no cases where someone got sick due to apple-based bacteria. Also, if you are in a hurry to lightly wipe the apple with a paper towel or kitchen cloth it should be enough, but it is a good idea to always (when you can) operate all the agricultural fruits before consuming them.
